Desert Hunter

At one time 34 Johnny Stewart files were available on CD from Hunter's Specialties. They remain some of the best even after 50 years. The loops averaged 171 seconds, none much shorter than a minute, and some approaching five. They represent some of the best of the JS catalog. The group contains 6 rabbits, 4 birds, 2 coaxers, 2 cats, 2 canines, a fawn, a doe, and 4 foxes. There are also a couple of coons and crows.

Reviewing each file is probably wasted effort since they are all highly rated. I'll stick 4 stars on them all since they're the best of sounds in a great open source format. You can hunt season after season here very successfully with the rabbits, birds and coaxers in this collection.

The Coywolf sounds are howls right on the edge of challenges, not quite falling off, and a few almost turning up. The Coyote pup distress is outstanding.

The loops are so long, you don't need all of them. A 50 second piece, possibly edited into three short sequences, is about all you need of each sound for most calling. Some of my favorites are High-Pitched Cottontail, Vittles A'la Jackrabbit, Grown Cottontail, and Squealing Bird.
